ITV Rebrand
For my FMP at college I decided to create my own TV channel and branded it, so I did quite a bit of research around the subject. I’ll give my views on this re-brand after a few weeks of watching.

Boat Studio | http://boat-studio.com
“Boat Studio worked with The Temper Trap to create an identity for their self-titled second album. We wanted to give the platinum-selling Australian band something more than a smart album cover; but a visual identity that could run throughout the album campaign, visuals you could remove their logo from and it would still be unmistakably theirs. Boat Studio collaborated with Italian artist Alberto Seveso to create the identity. Working with acrylic ink in water, he photographed a suite of images in a bold primary palette to run across single and album artwork. The campaign was created in two locations, from Alberto’s studio in Sicily and ours in London, where we created moving visuals.”
Boat is an optimistic creative studio from London, England. We turn simple human ideas into brands, print, packaging and digital.
Placement Update
I have been given a brief to do while on placement which I’m going to work in to my NMP. The brief is to create an identity for a Manchester rock band. They have asked for a logo and EP cover, which will need to be promoted through a microsite, print and merchandise.
I’ve mapped out a timescale for the different deliverables to stick to and push my ideas. So far I have done lots of joint research on album covers through pinterest, researched the band and started experimenting with my concept for the cover after reading through the song lyrics. The EP title will be ‘The Path of Least Resistance’ which I interpreted as taking the easy route and the songs seem to be about getting through lifes struggles. After brainstorming the concepts I came up with were mainly based around weather.
Thunder storms - Very agressive and the lightning finds a path to earth to release the pressure. However lighting is already used a lot in the rock genre and getting a photo will be hard. It could look good in other ways though like this Killers cover.
Rain/ water- Water finds the easiest path when flowing downstream. Could have some nice imagery of mountains and rivers
Clouds - “..clouds are expressions of the atmosphere’s moods, and can be read like those of a person’s countenance”- cloudappreciationsociety.org
Clouds come in all shapes, sizes and colours which can be representative of moods. I haven’t got time to wait for a dramatic red cloudscape to form over Manchester so I will have to create my own. I was looking at using torn up paper for the clouds to give a fluffy edge and tearing up paper is usually done in anger so it will contrast nicely. I’m going to use these photos by Mabry Campbell as inspiration.
Forgotten something this Christmas? Tesco Express stores are open late on Christmas Eve so it’s not too late to nip in before the big day and so asked people on Facebook to vote for the things they most often forget at Christmas. Here’s the Ad: http://vimeo.com/55929210
I thought Tescos ad campaign was great last month. The green hat on the logo, the TV ads, print campaign and use of social media. W+K
Me and Megan updated the Type Foundry site today by re-arranging the homepage a bit. It is now more responsive to size of the browser window. The code for the manifesto box and hovers were changed to display text rather than an images so they can be picked up by search engines. This streamlined the code slightly and makes the page load a little bit quicker.
We still need more submissions!!

I’m a big fan of the TV advert and this ad certainly has impact especially in such a pedestrianised area where you can view it from far away and close up.
