  4. I quite like this site which has a moving logo. It may be good for my band site to have a moving element to show the energy their music gives

Robert teaching the students how to save money and not defraud the nation of tax… Going through how to register and being self employed

This was both scary and informative. Managing my finances is definitely something I needed info on especially when dealing with clients, creating/managing invoices and tax.

  7. This is the site in progress Photoshop screenshot. The process up to this point-
1. Pages and content.
Index- Logo, facebook and twitter buttons, headline about EP, Soundcloud player, Large image background
EP- Cover image, track listings, promotion to gain interest, buy button, share button
Gigs- Listings date, location, buy tickets
Gallery/ Videos- Content from the bands official Instagram and Youtube
Blog- News on gigs, release dates, rehearsals, merchandise. Share button for each post
Merch?- Could link to another site from the header
2. Layout & content research
During my research I quickly warmed to the single scrolling style of design. There isn’t really enough content for each section to have a page and clicking though each one would be is a chore especially if there are only a few upcoming gigs for example. The main aim for the website is to link with social networks and engage with fans while promoting the band. The target audience are aged 18-35 Males so they will most likely have gadgets and an understanding of social tech. I’ve decided to incorporate a Pay-with-a-Tweet button which will give fans a free track in exchange for a tweet on their profile. An Instagram feed will also get images which are #madisonstate so images from gigs etc can be shown. I also found a site called Stratus which adds a Soundcloud bar to the footer.
3. Design
For headers I used the same font family as the one used in my logo for consistency and then found a complimentary web font to use as body copy. I brought in an accent colour to make certain bits of information stand out and make the site less monotone. I didn’t want to make it too clean cut because of the genre of music so I’ve used rough lines and textured backgrounds with 1 or 2 grunge brushes.
I wireframed the site with a sketch and then used a grid on Photoshop to design on to. At the moment seeing what works and what doesn’t in terms of ordering the sections and balancing text with image.
I’m also thinking about how it will work when designed and in a browser, in terms of navigation and browser width. Rocknine have also agreed to help me out with the logistics of it once designed.

  8. I’ve been working on the band website today. The content will be split in to sections on a single scrolling page. I’ve decided to do this because there isn’t enough content for each section to have it’s own page. More about this tomorrow…
