Tina Roth Eisenberg- Typo San Francisco
Yesterday I caught the last 30 mins of Tina’s talk which was streamed live on typotalks.com. I didn’t know who she was at first but after seeing her sideshow I recognised all of her work. Tina is the brain behind swissmiss, TeuxDeux, Tattly
- I recommend Teuxdeux for students for organisation- set it as your home pageShe is a “firm believer in white space and clean, elegant design” because of her Swiss routes. The theme of the event was ‘Connect’ and she explained how working from her bedroom (which was also clean and white), wasn’t working for her and being surrounded by like-minded people was much better. Which is why she manages Studiomates, a collaborative fun space in a cool place called DUMBO. She also organises a monthly lecture/breakfast series called CreativeMornings. Her advice:
- Find What You Love
Don’t stop until you find it. You’ll know when you do. - Don’t Be a Complainer
Instead, make things better. - Trust Your Intuition
Your gut is always right. - If an Opportunity Scares You, Take it
Being scared means you’ll learn and grow. - Find Like Minded People
Make sure they’re a respectful and good bunch - Collaborate
Only good will come of it. - Ignore Haters
They deserve none of your time - Inspire Others
At the end, type icon Erik Spiekermann quizzed her on her chosen fonts for the presentation. He doesn’t read anything before he knows the typeface it’s set in.
I hope they put this online so I can see the first half. But I did find this similar one. Thank you to Theo Inglis for tweeting the link yesterday
